Littlebits from poems about strongliving

Sometimes minds come together and make new things in a conversation. Sometimes different people’s poems and stories meet, shake hands, and unseen magic lingers among the warmth…

Here are some excerpts from the poems of a mate and a luchadora, from her books No God but Ghosts and Monsters and other Silent Creatures

… April in Cairo
Do you remember those days after the revolution,
when the train stations’ names changes to the scrawled
signatures of martyrs rising from the steam off the tracks
and we ran…

…After the Revolution
I stand with girls …. who make sacrifices, bread and roses that make the
revolution last when everyone thinks the revolution is past…

…I have never been to iraq. but I have been in love with monsters… I wanted to tell the story of what monsters are.and the people whom monsters silence.
